"This week's questions"
- Question 1: Hello,
- I have enjoyed your site and have read most of the ask the slave pages and have managed to learn quite a bit but I am new to Gor have been a submissive all my life and have usually just shared a dom/sub relationship.
- I have now met a Master who I am totally devoted to he enjoys the Gorean style and as of now I am on probation and in training to become his slave. I have been reading and reading all I can find I have some of the book and he suggested that I read #11 first that it would help me to learn some of the customs.
- Now finally the question....you as slaves have the knowledge and the experience to maybe help me to figure out where to start. I do want to learn all I can pleasing him is my main wish and goal. His job takes him away for extended periods of time so much of my learning is on my own.
- Any help would be greatly appreciated.
nairi smiled knowingly at several things mentioned in this letter to Ask The Slaves. The first reason is because book #11, Slave Girl of Gor, has always been one of nairi's favorite books, and without a doubt the volume she has read the most times. If a slave of earth truly wishes to learn the ways of a Gorean slave girl she should not limit her reading to that single book, however. Each volume in its own way pays attention to the inner make-up of a slave. A personal favorite (yes, nairi admits she can't decide which is truly her favorite book) is book #22, Dancer of Gor, for reasons detailed below.
In Dancer of Gor, the story begins on earth, whereas in Slave Girl of Gor, the story begins when the main female character awakens to find herself on Gor. As the story in Dancer opens, the reader first gets a glimpse into the inner mindset of a woman who feels something inside her which defies explanation. The earthly, daily life of the female character is followed in the opening chapters. These two features of the storyline make it very easy to identify with the girl, Doreen Williamson. As fate would have it, and also to make a Gorean storyline possible, the girl is captured on earth and taken to Gor. The story continually exposes the reader to the thoughts in the new slave's mind; how she feels and thinks, often comparing how she used to think and feel as an earth woman to how she now does the same as a slave on Gor. A very poignant quote from the book seems to sum up the growth of a woman's slavery as she is trained and learns more.
The point nairi tries to make is that if a girl truly wishes to understand what it is to be a Gorean slave, she will seek out and read as many of the books as possible, not limiting herself to just one or two. nairi can truthfully say she learned something new with each book she read. Yes, at times the information was excruciatingly redundant, but without fail some new twist or deeper understanding was given.
It is true that a girl's owner can be the best single source of her training as a slave. A wise slave girl will listen eagerly to all her Master tells her, not being afraid to question if there are things not completely understood. Master's prefer bright, intelligent, imaginative and creative slaves. Never hesitate to display to your Master as he trains you that his time and efforts have not been wasted.
nairi now mentions something pertinent to the final portion of the question; that of having a Master who is absent a great deal of the time. How well nairi can relate to this one! nairi once was in a similar situation. In the absence of her then-Owner, nairi listened to what was inside her to teach and guide her. Surprisingly, many attitudes and much knowledge of how a slave should act were found deep inside. Some of irc Gor may refer to this as the slave belly. Never doubt that it exists in those who are truly slave. And never fail to 'listen' to it. Sometimes it will be the very thing which dictates to a slave how to respond when her earthly upbringing may tell her otherwise.
Lastly, talk to other girls you have observed. nairi has yet to meet a slave who does not welcome the opportunity to help a new slave. Simply explain you are new and desire to learn, then ask if she minds answering a question. Most will say 'of course, sister'. In the process many slave friendships can be formed. Those too are important, because as a girl travels the journey of her slavery, it will be normal to have days in which doubts set it and insecurities surface. At those times, having another slave to confide in may go a long way toward preventing a girl from making a major, displeasing mistake with her Master. Good luck to you, slave sister. nairi wishes you well as you learn your slavery.
Question 2: this girl has a question about the nature of the relationships between slave girls. if a girl is harrassing you and you don't like her, is it your responsibility to get along with her or are you permitted to ignore her? is it not our primary duty to please the Masters and not worry about the other girls here(irc) who are constantly in our business? thank you for your advice.
First and foremost, pleasing Master comes before all things. That statement simply requires no explanation, period. In general, a Master will not concern himself with the relationship his slaves have with other slaves. It is not important to him. However, when slave squabbles become loud enough to disturb or displease the Master, then he might deem them important enough to intervene.
It is not possible, as humans, to like the personalities of all other humans. Slaves are certainly not exempt from personality likes and dislikes. If you find yourself confronted by a slave who holds a dislike for you, it will be up to you to deal with it. Choosing to ignore another slave may then become the only way to prevent a squabble from reaching the ears of a Master. But it should always be kept in mind that how a slave conducts herself on irc is subject to judgement by fellow irc Goreans.
Although nairi abhors being called sister by those she does not know, there is still a like-minded, kindred spirit among all the participants of this electronic Gorean world, a world of adults. No one can be forced to like another in a channel, but common sense should dictate how not to let a situation get out of hand. nairi is reminded of something her father always said about dealing with people one dislikes in the workplace. "Never burn your bridges; someday that person may be your boss." In irc terms, slightly adjusted for slaves, a wise slave will not make enemies with other slaves; someday that girl may be her chainsister.
nairi wishes all well and hopes she has been some help in the replies she has given to these excellent questions.
Question 3: this girl was looking for references in the books to a slave being trained by another slave. a girl was taught that other slaves did not train a slave, but left that to a Master.
kyna has been thinking a great deal lately about the slaves training other slaves debate. kyna feels the most essential training comes from the Owner of the particular slave. a girl has often heard that training channels are not needed because the information is all on the website, but unfortunately, kyna feels that often websites are inaccurate, and a new girl is left to try and muddle through on her own. having a place to go and learn from other girls whom have been here a while, does not seem like such a terrible idea, provided that the girls who are helping have the accurate knowledge...coming from the books.
kyna firmly believes that other slaves can teach only the knowledge they have gleaned from the books and their own experiences. it is up to the other slave to learn...as ultimately, she is her best teacher...pushing herself. Masters then take the girl, what she has learned..and mold it to their specifications.
in the books, girls were often sent to several different trainers by their Masters. kyna can sight a few references to this:
kyna has heard that it is not acceptable to have your slave trained by another slave. or to have slave "trainers", but here in the books, we see that is not the case. who better than to help teach a girl the ways of subtle sluttery, than another slut, a bit more experienced? of course the specifics that a Master wishes to put upon a girl are best left up to Him to teach. kyna thinks it not uncommon at all that girls would seek out the knowledge, the comfort, the companionship of other, more experienced slaves to send them further down their road to being comfortable with the knowledge they are learning.
