Another month has slipped past; another page of the calendar has been turned. Now begins the season of celebrations, deadlines, rushing about, preparations, get-togethers with friends, gift giving and reminiscing of happy days.

This being the case, thoughts of happy times on Gor naturally found their way to this slave's mind (with the help of a Master who extended a challenge of sorts). Indeed some of the happiest moments of this slave's life have been as slave. Yes, there were, and continue to be, some less than stellar times, but dwelling on them doesn't quite fit the scenario of a joyous season.

One of the happiest events on Gor, from the perspective of a slave, is the witnessing of another slave as she submits herself to a Master and is locked in his collar. The girl is so full of determination to be found pleasing and be the very best slave imaginable. There are no words to describe the thoughts in the mind and the emotions in the heart as a collaring of another takes place.

Another joyous occasion is when a slave admits openly that she has made a mistake and seeks to make restitution, especially on irc. The anonymity of the medium allows the person behind the screen to keep their weaknesses and shortcomings hidden, thus affording the attitude it is unnecessary to explain errant actions or words. Conversely, it may be easier to admit these things in a non face-to-face setting. However, neither of these is really the point. What IS significant is that by sharing mistakes, shortcomings and errors, others are given the opportunity to learn and better understand that being slave is a continually evolving process. No slave ever reaches the pinnacle of her slavery. In the opinion of this slave, one of the most profound passages in the books can be found in Dancer of Gor,

" Let the girl revel in her growth, and not fear that one day there will be no more to learn, no where else to go."

The very happiest times for this slave (other than the times which were spent with Master, of course) are the times in which a group of Gorean slaves find themselves in a channel with no Masters or Mistresses present. This slave is truly happy when she is in this setting. Please don't misunderstand the happiness at the lack of a Freeperson's presence. The happiness stems from the ability to listen to slaves share their perspectives and knowledge, talk of how they deal with various situations which arise with Masters or other slaves and, in general, tell of how they conduct themselves in their day to day lives in a manner befitting a true slave.

No discussion of Gor would be complete without mentioning the happiness one can derive by watching a Master interact with his slave. The first few times this slave visited Gor she sat in awe as she watched slaves serve their Masters with total grace, elegance and form. Their emotions could literally be felt as they described their actions and deeds. To this day this slave cannot watch a Master and his slave without reliving some of the glorious moments she spent on Gor with her own Master.

If this slave was asked to select the personal happiest time she experienced as part of Gor, she would not choose her own submission, collaring and subsequent branding, although that was indeed a wondrous time. The most significant happiness to which this slave was subjected came during a conversation with her Master. It was the moment Master and this slave realized, quite simultaneously, that although their relationship on irc Gor was brand new, they had always been Master and slave to each other in their relationship, even prior to knowledge of Gor.

Yes, this slave has seen some remarkably happy events take place in the Gorean lives of those around her, both on irc and real life. Masters and slaves from irc have gone on to become husband and wife, some have moved to be with each other and still others, although unable to be with each other, have found their love slave and true Master. So when confronted with discussions of the adversity, discord and strife among her Gorean peers, this slave reminds herself that there IS some happiness on Gor. It just might not be as apparent.

This slave wishes all Freepersons, Masters and Mistresses, and her kindred slaves well ... and a joyous and happy season to each.
