It has been One Year !!!

January 11th marks the First Anniversary of The Gorean Daily Times - this year has proven to be one of experience and growth. What began as a jest amongst the household, became an idea upon paper, then moved to the web. The Gorean Daily Times, has traveled from AR, to Port Kar, and now calls Ko-Ro-Ba, it's home.

The first Editor of the Times, Master DrkRider, was instrumental in taking the idea from paper to the web, volunteering space on His site, giving up His time to alter, change, move, and create. During this period Master Bear- and Master _Marcus_ were very vocal and together, a driving force in showing lassy where changes needed to be made. This period was tough for the Times. The changes were constant. Advertising for the Times and putting forth two issues a week, took a lot of time and energy. When Master DrkRider left the paper due to outside responsibilities, lassy was left to find another editor.

The search led her to Port Kar and Master Collector. Master Collector, took on a very young paper, and the changes needed were attempted to be put into action. Readership increased, but the road was rocky. So many times, Master Collector and lassy both thought of throwing in the towel, but an idea was there, and it was known that with blood, sweat, tears, that idea could become a reality. Time was spent scratching and digging for ideas' and thoughts to present to the people of Gor, and through that rough time, the Times continued to grow. Master Collector, facing personal issues, the Times was again without an Editor.

Traveling about Gor in search of an Editor, lassy entered Ko-Ro-Ba. She approached Master Danath. A Man, she had known, and respected, whose principles were what the Times needed. She presented her idea's, her thoughts, and the viewpoints expressed so vehemently by Master Bear- and Master _Marcus_, and sucking in her breath she asked Him to become the Editor. Much to her surprise, Master Danath took on the task. The Times was revamped with a new look, new backgrounds.

Master TarnRider, joined the paper with His wonderful stories and mind boggling quizzes, Master Bear-, a self proclaimed asshole, joined the staff with His fountain of knowledge, and words of wisdom. The Times began to grow by leaps and bounds. Many were contributing, Master Excursus (who, incidentally, is a bigger asshole than Master Bear-), then joined the staff to add humor to the Times with His reviews, wit and charm, then came Master _Marcus_, who in His own rights, could be called Master Gor. Never a Man so knowledgeable, so articulate, the Times lucky to have Him on the staff.

The Times still grows, far beyond each and everyone's expectations. Thoughts and idea's are tossed about by various members of the Staff of the Times, most of which are discussed, sometimes heatedly, sometimes with a lot of begging, ultimately the final decision rests upon one Man, Master Danath. With Master Danath at the helm, the Times has changed immensely, and boasts a readership between 400 - 600 a week. Additions of slave question and answers with occasional recipes, interviews of various inhabitants of Gor, have helped to make the Times more comfortable. Real life issues have been brought to Gor, topics once taboo have been brought to the open.

The Times is proud to say that in this year's time, we have had only one week, wherein we did not post an issue. The Times carries it's readership far beyond just those of IRC, weekly readers include those from AOL, Prodigy, Compuserv, and the address is posted and/or linked on many sites and bulletin boards.

This girl would like to thank everyone, the staff, the readers, for helping to make the Times, a decent, useful, educational productive piece of Gorean material available to anyone who wishes to read it. This girl can say a dream has been met far beyond the original idea set forth, a goal reached and surpassed. She thanks everyone involved this past year, with all that is within her. Thank You everyone!!!
